The committee is a point of solace for Muslim women in the United Kingdom to ensure that no Muslim woman in the United Kingdom finds themselves alienated in times of need or crises. The committee organises quarterly events to address pertinent issues that may impact negatively on the women’s health. In the past, we have organised programmes on cancer awareness, mental health and work-life balance.

Also, we do pay courtesy calls to individuals and families at their homes and when this is not possible, we catch up over the phone. Depending funds availability, we provide financial assistance to Muslim women in distress as well as linking Muslim women to useful resources that promote their flourishing and wellbeing. Although committee members donate a monthly levy to support our activities, we will gladly welcome donations from members of the public.
In 2020, we ran a domestic abuse awareness campaign to:
- Alert the community of its danger
- Raise community awareness
- Encourage and signpost victims to access available interventions.
The awareness campaign was carried out via:
- Quarterly Awareness Workshops
- 3D Awareness Stickers
- The Pass-It-On Cards
In addition, the Women committee is responsible for organising empowerment projects. This is geared towards the economic and emotional empowerment of women in our communities. Workshops on start-ups, relationship building, and self-development are its focus. To ensure participants take maximum benefit from the programme, start-up kits and training are provided and beneficiaries are supported to start their own businesses.
